HOUSE CONCERT INFO

First off, THANK YOU for your interest in hosting a house concert! This page will give you the basic details and answer some common questions. As always, feel free to contact me directly if you need more information.

WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT?

A house concert is an intimate performance given by an artist in a private residence or similar space. House concerts are normally private, invitation-only events.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A HOUSE CONCERT?

A typical house concert follows this schedule:

  1. 1st hour: Social Time
Doors open, guests and artist mingle and enjoy snacks and drinks together. Typically, house concerts are “pitch-ins”--everyone brings some kind of food and/or drink to share

  2. 2nd hour: Concert part 1
Guests take their seats in the performance area and the artist plays their first set of songs; typically about 45 minutes followed by a 15 minute intermission.

  3. 3rd hour: Concert part 2
Guests return to their seats and the artist plays their second set of songs.

  4. Post-concert
After the artist’s second set, everyone enjoys more snacks and drinks, socializing, etc. The artist will typically have a table set up where guests can buy CDs and other merchandise as well as talk more with artist about the songs, performance, and/or anything else they’d like to know about.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HOST A HOUSE CONCERT?

Hosting a house concert is FREE for the host and guests. There will typically be a “tip jar” where the guests can make a small donation (usually $10 or so) if they like. The artist will usually offer CDs and other merchandise for sale as well.

IS A HOUSE CONCERT LOUD? WILL NEIGHBORS COMPLAIN?

Typically, house concert volume levels are very low. Depending on the space, some concerts can be given without any amplification at all.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I INVITE?
